Membership Meeting February 1, 2007.

A check in the amount of $2150, as approved by the membership, was presented to the Fire Company to assist with the purchase of a HUMIT valve. The valve will be used, when needed at the scene of a fire.
Executive Committee Reports: Carol Cahall suggested extending membership emeritus to Carol Blackburn. A motion to do so was made by Laurie Dilks, Second by Howard LeRoux. Motion carried.
By Laws committee is working on by laws.
Membership. Dennis Emerson. 8 new members in January. Present 199. Need to renew by Feb 16, 2007. Budget based on 300 members. D. Emerson handed out names of unpaid members. Members are to be called and urged to re-join.
Gala Committee: Paula Wilhelm. Sponsors and committee members were thanked.
Ambassadors: Ellie Bonde asked members to sign up for committees. Sign up under the committee on which you serve. This month’s drop in lunch is at the Olive Leaf Cafe. Need ideas for future meetings. Great time to discuss your business with others. March drop in is at Challedon. Need to make reservations.
Professional Development. Marlene Titus. Seminars are listed in the February 2007 newsletter.
Scholarships: Aaron Kahn. Scholarships are being advertised in the media. Schools and colleges have been notified.
Business Expo: Filomena Thompson. Committee is ramping up advertising. Sponsors are needed and exhibitors are needed.
Advertising & Marketing: Keir Knight. The amount spent on advertising for 2006 was $11,211.43 (from a budget of $13,000). He has tallied his accounts with the treasurer’s ledger and all is in order. The full accounting spreadsheet was available to the membership in the folder passed around at the meeting
The Advertising and Marketing Committee will meet on February 21st at 4 pm at the Mt. Airy Library on Ridge Avenue. All are welcome to attend.
Keir reminded members to send in profiles for their pages on the new categorized and searchable website member pages.
Mt. Airy Phone Book: Keir had signs for people to put out encouraging businesses and residents to be a part of the 2007 book. He also had application forms available for anyone still needing to sign up or for anyone to give to a business that has not yet been a part of the Chamber or the Phone Book. He reminded the membership that he is available in person each Friday afternoon at the New Windsor State Bank, through Feb 16.
He thanked the many Chamber volunteers who have been making phone calls to remind other businesses to re-join the Chamber or sign up for the Phone Book.
Social Committee: Ramzy Nassar. The committee is planning a picnic for the chamber. This is not a budgeted item. The plan is to hold it at Am Vets Post #2 on June 2nd. RSVP required.
A motion to fund up to $1500 was made by Paula Wilhelm, Second by Howard LeRoux. A speed networking event is being held at Adventure Park, 8:00 – 9:30 am on Feb 8th. Reservations by Feb 2.
Carroll County Chamber: Tim Barkley
New Business: Audit was completed.
Ads are available in town newsletter per Mayor Johnson. Mayor Johnson urges residents to pay attention to board meetings. Stay involved.
Feb 23rd Costco having open house, 7-9 pm.
April 21 is date for the Business Expo.
Meeting adjourned 9:10 am.
