Minutes: Paul Clay moved to accept the minutes as published. Tim Barkley seconded the motion.
Finance Committee: Dennis Ahalt reported he has received a final report from the Audit Committee. Fund Balance 01/20/07 - $31,068.12; Feb Revenue:=$4625.00; 2007 Expenses = $3126.85; Fund Balance 2/28/07 = $32,561.27.
Executive Committee: Carol Cahall…Aaron Kahn reported on Executive and committee reporting. The Chamber received a thank you letter from the Fire Company thanking the chamber for our contributions. The By-Law committee is recommending changes. These changes will be discussed at the April meeting.
Membership: Dennis Emerson- Dennis will provide labels for members. Chamber will now own its list. Membership is 287. Another 13 people in the pipeline = 300. 88 apps. Received in February. Urge old members to re-up. Thanks volunteers for help to committee.
Ambassadors: Ellie Bonde – Committee meeting after membership today. Promoted membership folder available to all members to give to new members. New info for new packets to give to new members. Packets given out by Mt. Airy Mayor also. New member orientation following April meeting.
Professional Development: Marlene Titus-Showing catalog for non-credit courses. Courses set for this year. Courses listed on Web site. Quick books course limited to 10-15 people. Survey for computer course sent out. Excel Course. Planning for Microsoft preview on a Saturday. Seminars free to members. Carroll Community College is offering “Business Boosters”. A unique series of one-day weekend courses are being offered for busy small business owners. The first seminar is Sat, March 24, 2007.
Scholarship: Tim Slane. Have received two applications.
Business Expo: Filomena Thompson-Thanks to the committee. 25 exhibitors 9 sponsors
Have flyers to hand out to businesses. Mailing post card to members. Many good programs lined up.
Advertising & Marketing: Keir Knight- Passed around book containing advertising. Good coverage from local media. Aaron Kahn to write column for Gazette on chamber matters.
Phone Book: In good shape financially. Approx 330-340 advertisers. Deadline is Friday night, March 2. Reminder if you took a display ad you will receive a proof.
Social Committee: Leslie Brenneman
Carroll County Chamber: Tim Barkley. As a member you can attend the Carroll Co. Chamber. Want to put list of our events in the Carroll Co. Chamber newsletter.
The Brunswick C of C presented certificate to the Mt. Airy Chamber recognizing our assistance in helping the Brunswick Chamber to get started.
Frederick Chamber Alliance:
John Beck- Will do a joint bus card exchange. If you are a member of GMACC you can join the Frederick Chamber and save $95. We will reciprocate Chamber memberships.
New Business: Need a rep to the (SCBA)
Rep is to be Alice Decker, Interstate Construction & Dev. Co.
Paul Clay requested members not forget the Kiwanis Breakfast March 17. Placemat ads. Paul needs to know your desire to stay or get on.
Next membership meeting is April 5 at 8 am.
