Minutes: Motion to approve by Ken Matthews, second by Bob Cage.
Treasurer’s report: Denny Ahalt – Opening Balance $$38,970.18; receipts $825.00; Expenditures $3398.96 Balance $36,396.22.
Executive Committee: Carol Cahall- Downtown fire. The chamber offered its web site for use by the burned out businesses seeking help to recover from the fire.
Professional Development: Marlene Titus – The first business plan workshop is September 18th. Elements of a Marketing Plan is scheduled for October 1st.
Membership: Dennis Emerson. Current membership is 365.
Ambassador Committee: Ellie Bonde – An ambassador committee Meeting and new member orientation will be held at the close of this meeting.
Community Expo: Jeannie LeRoux. Will be held April 19, 2008. Our next committee meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 20th, 8:30 am at the Vintage Coffee House. Anyone wishing to join us, please let me know. We do have a few new committee members. If anyone has any ideas for the Expo, call or email me.
Advertising & Phone Book: Keir Knight – We now have 4 sponsors for the Web Site. For the month of August 2007 there were 1100 hit son the Web Site.
For next year, the Chamber application & phone book sign up all in a new form. Membership for the year is $95. If you sign up at the membership drive, the membership fee is $70. A motion to accept the dues above was made by Keir Knight, second by Bob cage.
Social Committee: Leslie Brenneman – Sep 13th there is a business card exchange at the Mt. Airy Animal Hospital, 1308 S.Main Street, 5 – 7 pm.
Oct. 4th, 4:30 – 6:30, Joint chamber celebration with the Frederick Chamber at Linganore wine cellars
Business card exchange at New Windsor State Bank, Twin Arch Center, Oct 10th 5-7 PM.
Carroll County Chamber: Tim Barkley – Thanks for the support of the Chamber at the breakfast held at the Library. 89 members from GMACC attended.
Frederick Chamber: John Beck – The Frederick Chamber EXPO will be held Sept. 11th at the FSK Holiday Inn – 9:30 -3 PM.
South Carroll Bus. Association: Alice Decker – The association is supporting the CCPS Gala being held October 12th. Contact Tracy Rouchard at 410-848-9183. She is silent auction chairman.
The Association is sponsoring a golf tournament. Info will be posted on the Chamber website.
Nomination of officer for 2008: Bob Cage, nominating committee –Nominated are:
Aaron Kahn, President; Kerry Turner,1st VP; Dennis Emerson, 2nds VP; Laurie Dilks, Recording Secretary. Paul Clay and Alice Decker are running for correspondence secretary. Carol Cahall will be Past President; Dennis Ahalt will be Treasurer.
Web Site Proposals: Kerry Turner – The committee will meet Sep 13th at the Library to consider and make a decision on the 3 proposals received. A recommendation will be made to the Executive Committee.
