NOVEMBER 2003 NEWSLETTER
NOVEMBER 6th EVENT
Our big Membership Drive and Business Card Exchange will take place on November
6th from 4 to 7pm at Century Ford on Century Drive behind the Twin Arch
Shopping Center. Any member that joins on this date will receive their 2004
membership for $65.00. Anyone who joins after that date will pay the new fee of
$75.00.
Catering will be provided by New York J&P Pizza and our door prize will
be a snow blower from the Tractor Supply Company. This will be an
exciting evening for all of our members to participate in. Make sure to put this
evening on your calendar and please feel free to invite anyone you do business
with that is not yet a Chamber member!

NOVEMBER 6th MEETING
At our November 6th meeting, which is held at the Fire Hall, at Main Street and
Watersville Road, we will be finalizing the arrangements for our Membership
Drive/Business Card Exchange for that evening - and will also be talking about a
Business Card Exchange for December; the Charitable Chamber; and how to get new
members actively involved in the Chamber.
You enter the fire hall from the back parking lot. Our meeting begins at 8am and
we look forward to seeing many of you, as your opinions matter.

ELECTIONS
At our October meeting, we announced the nominating committee, Audrey Stapf and
Keir Knight. Nominations will be presented and elections will be held at our
November 6th meeting. The nominations for the Chamber officers for 2004 are:
President: Tim Barkley, Barkley Law Office
Vice President: Carol Cahall, The Main Event
Vice President: Billie Wilkinson, Farmers & Mechanics Bank
Recording Secretary: Paula Wilhelm, Lorien Mt. Airy Assisted Living/LTC
Facility
Corresponding Secretary: Linda Koons, Westminster Union Bank
Treasurer: Dennis L. Ahalt, New Windsor State Bank
Other nominations will be taken from the floor. Just be sure that the person
you nominate really wants to run for the office.
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
We discussed and then voted that the money currently in the Scholarship Fund
will be distributed in the following manner: $1,000.00 will be given to Carroll
Community College; $1,000.00 will be given to Frederick Community College and
the remainder of the fund will be given to the Charitable Chamber fund. The
money will be used for students in need at the college and will be distributed
at the discretion of each college.
BUSINESS FAIR
Plans for a Business Fair are underway. Carol Cahall is the Chairman and anyone
who is interested in helping with this event, please contact her at The Main

CHAMBER PINS
If you have purchased a Chamber pin, you can add your company name to your pin
for a charge of $3. Anyone who would like to do so, please contact Debbie Harker
of Barger-Harker Insurance at 301-831-0223.
Chamber pins are also available to our new members and to anyone who hasn’t yet
purchased one. The price is $7 for each pin.

Our Fall 2003 brochure is now available (sponsored by The Gazette). If
you would like to suggest that a brochure be sent to a local business that is
