JANUARY MEETING
Our first monthly meeting of 2005 will be held on Thursday 6th January – at the Mt Airy Fire Hall (corner of Watersville Rd and Main St, enter
through the back doors).
There will be a full agenda as always – including discussions on the upcoming
Business Fair, to be held April 16th – so please plan to attend!

At our December 2004 monthly meeting the first new President’s Award was
presented by Chamber president Tim Barkley to Audrey Stapf, our Membership
Secretary who has given unstinting service above and beyond the call of duty to
the Chamber since 1983.

BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE JANUARY 11TH
Our next Business Card Exchange will be held on Tuesday, January 11, from
5-8pm at the MAVFC Firemen’s Activities Building.
This event is sponsored by Tim’s Lawn & Landscape, Forever Flowers and
Mid-Atlantic Accounting.
It is sure to be a great event - we hope to see everybody there!
2005 PLANNING MEETING
Members are encouraged to attend the planning meeting for 2005 Chamber
activities. This will be held on Wednesday, January 26 at 1pm at Lorien Assisted
Living. Lunch will be served, so please RSVP to Paula Wilhelm at 301-829-6050,
ext. 112 by January 19.

2005 MEMBERSHIP

COMMITTEES
We are also always looking for committee chairs and committee members. Please
attend our monthly meetings to find out more and to offer your services to the
Chamber.
We are currently seeking a Government Relations committee chair. If you are
interested in this position, please contact any Chamber executive officer.
ADVERTISING COMMITTEE
The Advertising Committee gave a report to the December meeting (see minutes
for full details) – and thanks to a healthy budget, is recommending an increase
in ad spending in 2005.
The advertising Committee will meet again on January 12 at 8am in the
Community Room of the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ADS
Two Chamber ads to ran in December, in the Messenger and The Gazette, wishing
everyone a Happy Holiday season. The ads featured the names of all our 2004
members.
A MAIN STREET CHRISTMAS & PARADE
Chamber members Ellie Bonde of the The Blossom & Basket Boutique,
Jackie Bingham of Patches Quilting & Sewing and others were recognized
and thanked by the Mt Airy town council for their great work in organizing the
hugely successful Main Street Christmas Parade.
