APRIL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Our monthly membership meeting will be held on Thursday April 5th at 8am
at the Mt Airy Fire Hall (corner of Watersville Rd and Main St, park at
the rear/lower level and enter through the back doors).
We will have our usual hour of introductions, committee reports, and
discussions of new and old business.
Remember that minutes of all our monthly meetings can be found on the
Chamber website at www.mtairybusiness.com
Every month members also get to see all the advertising, newspaper
coverage and correspondence for the past month.
NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION - APRIL
We will be holding a New Member Orientation immediately following our
regular April meeting. All new members are invited, and our invitation
extends to any interested Chamber member regardless of your length of
membership.
We will begin the orientation meeting by 9.15am, and will adjourn by 10am.
You will hear about the many benefits of Chamber membership, and all your
questions will be answered.
Refreshments will be served. We are looking forward to seeing you!

BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE I
A Business Card Exchange will be held Tuesday April 17th from 4-6.30pm at
The Acupuncture Center of Mt Airy at 106 East Ridgeville Blvd.
The event is co-sponsored by Mt. Airy Liquors, Big Perms and Hair Flair
Salon.
As usual, door prizes are welcomed - door prizes can be a gift certificate
to a local business or maybe something to promote your business like a
T-shirt with your business name and number on it.
BUSINESS CARD EXCHANGE II
A Business Card Exchange will be held Monday April 30th from 4-7pm at The
Healing Temple at 8 East Second St, Frederick. As above, door prizes are
welcomed.
COMMUNITY EXPO 2007
The 2007 Mt. Airy Chamber Community Expo will be held on April 21, 2007,
11am-4pm at the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Co.'s Activities Grounds.

This is a family event showcasing the products and skills of the local
business community, with prizes, displays, giveaways and kids' activities.
Over 50 local businesses will be in attendance, with no charge for entry
and plenty of free parking. Food will be available throughout the day.
Businesses attending the Expo will have displays in the activities
building, in a large tent to be set up outside the building, and in the
front parking lot. Along with door prizes to be given away throughout the
day - including the grand prize of a brand new TV - visitors can also
expect plenty of giveaways from exhibitors.
There will be an art contest for kids at the Elementary, Middle and High
School levels; The Maryland State Police Helicopter is scheduled to
appear, along with dance companies, a karate show, moon bounce, a vintage
ambulance display, and much more.

BY-LAWS REVIEW
There is a review currently underway of several sections of our by-laws. A
PDF file with proposed revisions can be found on the website under the
monthly meeting entry of the Calendar section, and will be discussed at
the April membership meeting.
LUNCHTIME EVENT REPORT
Thank you to everyone at The Links at Challedon for hosting a very well
attended lunchtime event on March 13th
Over 40 Chamber members and guests attended the event several of whom
took advantage of the amazing weather that day to actually play some golf!
CARD EXCHANGE REPORT
Thank you to DJ and everyone at Stauffer Funeral Home for hosting our
March Business Card Exchange. Thanks also to co-sponsors The Blossom and
Basket Boutique, Carter-Que Barbecue and Grilling Company, Ray Miller,
RE/MAX and Knitting Chicks.
We had more than 55 members and visitors in attendance all of whom
enjoyed great food and refreshments, door prizes and networking!
Door prize winners included: Susan Howes, Long & Foster (A light hat from

2007 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS
We will be holding two seminars this spring.
On Monday, April 23, 6-9pm the topic will be Developing Advertising
Materials for Your Small Business, at the Mount Airy Library on Ridge
Avenue.
The seminar is being sponsored by Interstate Construction and Development,
Mid Maryland Health Insurance Solutions and Plain English Writing &
Design.
On Tuesday, June 12, 6.30-9.30pm the topic will be Tips and Tricks of
Quickbooks, at the Carroll Community College Business Training Center.
This seminar is being sponsored by Mid-Atlantic Accounting Solutions, LLC.
The workshops are FREE to Chamber members and $10 to non-members.
