JULY MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Our monthly membership meeting will be held on Thursday July 5th at 8am at
the Mt Airy Fire Hall (corner of Watersville Rd and Main St, park at the
rear/lower level and enter through the back doors).
We will have our usual hour of introductions, committee reports, and
discussions of new and old business.
Remember that minutes of all our monthly meetings can be found on the
Chamber website at www.mtairybusiness.com
Every month members also get to see all the advertising, newspaper
coverage and correspondence for the past month.
MOUNT AIRY NET
At the July monthly meeting we will be presenting a check to Mount Airy
Net in the amount of $2,980. This money came from the mini-golf tournament
($2,480) and the Community Expo ($500).
All those involved in producing both events are to be commended and
thanked for their tireless efforts - in particular, Leslie Brenneman and
Howard LeRoux, who were the organizers of the mini-golf event.
JULY CARD EXCHANGE
A Business Card Exchange will be held Thursday July 26th, 4pm to 7pm at
the Retro-Metro store, 118 South Main Street in Mount Airy. There is
plenty of parking in the municipal lot and you can walk down the recently
renovated stairs to get to Main Street, directly opposite the store.
AUGUST CARD EXCHANGE
Mark your calendars now for a Business Card Exchange to be held Thursday
August 30th at the Damascus Community Bank from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The bank
is located at 26500 Ridge Rd. There will be a chance to win a $50 Savings
Bond!

CARD EXCHANGE REPORTS
Thank you to Larry Stottlemyer and his staff at Adventure Park USA for
hosting our morning event on June 14th.
Thank you also to Tami Klosko and all the staff at The Olive Leaf Cafefor
hosting our evening event on June 27th.
We had good member and guest turnout at both events and thank you to all
those who provided door prizes!
MAIN STREET FARMERS MARKET UPDATES
The Mount Airy Farmers Market will feature special events each Wednesday.
Master Gardener Tina Swanson of Mount Airy will discuss tips for taking
care of flowers and gardens.
Beginning Wednesday, Swanson and other master gardeners will be available
4 to 7 p.m. the last Wednesday of each month through out the summer
season.
Local chefs will give demonstrations on how to cook with herbs and how to
prepare summer vegetables.
On July 11, Lori Titus of Bee Folks will demonstrate Cooking with Honey;
July 18, Judy Turner of Concetta's Italian Grocer will demonstrate on July
18 Cooking With Fresh Herbs;
Cooking demonstrations begin at 6 p.m.
Local artists are being sought to perform at the markets. Interested
musicians should contact Kelly Ziad to reserve a date.
The Mount Airy Main Street Farmers Market is open 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Farmers sell fresh produce, eggs, local honey, herbs and baked goods. For

MOUNT AIRY VOLUNTEER FIRE CO ANNUAL CARNIVAL
It's time for the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company Carnival, from July
23rd to July 28th at the MAVFC Carnival Grounds.
A few of the highlights of the week will be the 4th annual MAVFC Karaoke
Contest.
On Thursday evening, we once again host our Gala Parade that attracts
Fire/Rescue apparatus, bands, marching groups and other entries from the
Mid-Maryland area.
As usual the parade will travel down Main Street to Park Avenue and end at
our Carnival grounds. Finally, a Giant Fireworks display will light the
skies over Mount Airy on Saturday night!
Once again, we will be offering a limited amount of Advance Sale
Ride-All-Night tickets for $8.00, cash only. Tickets can be purchased at
Blossom and Basket Boutique, Mt. Airy Train Station, Wagner Brothers
Locker and the Nextel sales office.

Copies of the Mount Airy Phone Book are available at all Chamber meetings
and events. Copies can also be found at the Mount Airy Library on Ridge
Avenue, and at Town Hall on Main Street.

Don't forget that the Chamber e-mail group "mtairybusinessgeneral" is
available for all members to use.
Unlike the main group, this new group is not moderated and members
are free to post anything related to their own business or to the
local business community in general.

CHAMBER FOLDERS
The Greater Mt Airy Chamber of Commerce now has pocket folders available
for all members to use. The glossy folders include four interior sheets:
committee descriptions, Chamber events, leadership and an application
form.
The folders are available at all Chamber events and meetings or by
contacting Ambassadors Committee Chair Ellie Bonde of the Blossom & Basket
Boutique at (301) 831-0010.
They are perfect to use to introduce potential members to the Chamber.
