2008 COMMUNITY EXPO
The 2008 Community Expo will be held Saturday,
April 19th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the
Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company’s Activities
Grounds. It’s not too late to reserve your space!

The 2008 Community Expo is going to be bigger
and better than ever! Not only will there be
more promotion of the event with radio commercials
and a live remote broadcast from Key
103, but families will enjoy a magic show; face
painting and balloon sculpting; a free moon
bounce; and visits from Elmo, Clifford the Big
Red Dog and Mickey Mouse. Other highlights
include the Patriot Guard Riders on Motorcycle;
crab racing; dance and karate performances
by local studios; free blood pressure
screenings; the bloodmobile onsite; and a
scheduled appearance by the MedEvac helicopter.
Everyone will enjoy mouth watering foods
by Convenience Catering.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED
Several Chamber committees are still in need of
volunteers. Below is a list of the committees that
still need new members.
Ambassadors serve as the “face” of the Chamber.
They help new members get involved in
Chamber events and make introductions at business
card exchanges and during new member
orientation. To volunteer for this committee,

The Membership Committee recruits new
members and processes membership applications/
renewals. To volunteer for the Membership

The Government Relations Committee
relays local government information to the
Chamber, especially topics that may affect

WEB SITE ADVERTISEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce is excited
to announce a great opportunity for members to advertise
on our website. We are now taking applications for 24 available
slots for a banner ad that will be displayed throughout
the Chamber website.
We welcome you to take a look at the revamped site which
includes new navigation, and over the next few months
more new information will be posted. Available ads are located
along the right side of the page. When you click on a vacant ad, you will be directed to an application. It is that
easy, which means it will be that easy for visitors to the
GMACC website to click on your company information and
go directly to your company’s website.
This offer is only available to members so if you know someone
who needs a reason to join the GMACC, please pass this

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
To further it’s mission to promote
business and professional services in
the greater Mount Airy, Maryland
area, the Chamber established a
$2,500 annual scholarship to be
awarded to a select student.
The award is an outright gift, not a
loan to be repaid or a salary to be
earned by performing certain duties. It
will be awarded as a one time payment
made directly to the institution of
acceptance upon presentment to the
Chamber of evidence of registration at
a qualified educational institution. The Scholarship is a one time gift and is not
renewable in subsequent years; however,
students may reapply regardless of previous
award. Though it is expected that a
student will be chosen to receive the
Scholarship, the Chamber may choose to not make an award in any given year.
The Scholarship is not intended merely
to further the education of an aspiring
student, but to recognize and assist
those students who share the vision and
values of the Chamber and show potential
of contributing to the greater
Mount Airy community.
